Default Superior Absorption rune: 100k!

Hello,

Correct me if I am wrong here, but a Superior Absorption Rune reduces the damage by 3 for every attack, right? Like my ranger hitting a warrior with, say 45 hp, will only do 42. Right? Like as if someone would care!

That rune costs at the moment 100k. Am I the only one here, but I think that this is absolutely ridiculous. Is there a warrior out there really looking forward to buy this rune? It has to be a joke.

I have a pair of shoes for sale, how about 35 000$ anyone?

People pay large amounts of gold just for the privilege of saying they have maxed out items. Go figure.

It's a bit more practical in PvP, where you can unlock it via faction. In the meantime, the 90~k difference in price makes the major rune better for PvE.

Unless you're loaded or lucky

10 hits that hit you for 10 dmge = 100 dmg

with sup abs = 10 * 7 = 70 dmg

hit after hit after hit even an exta -1 helps i guess.

although doesn't really justify an extra 100k IMO

but some people just have the money and want that extra edge

From what I understand, after some reasearch, Superior Absorbtion reduces physical damage done by -4.

My runner warrior uses this rune and its really not the large of a difference up from Major.

Only recommend buying it if you have extra money to spare.

Enjoy,

Jodie

I agree it isn't the best use of money, but if you've got it, and have nothing else to spend it on why not?

It may be a small amount of dmg removed, but in the big picture from multiple targets it can mean the difference between life and death if you think about it.

The usual answer to questions like these is "What else are you going to spend the money on?"

You might wonder instead why someone would bother farming enough to get that money for the rune, but apparently some people are into that.

I ahve one in my chest plate, reason: when im going to HoH, i want the best of the best of everything, because the competition will have the same. People want their warriors to be perfect, and this lets them be

Really? Where was the research on that? Eh, I'll probably go test it out myself actually.

Superior Absorption helps tremendously when:

1. You are running.
2. You are farming.
3. You are doing PvE solo.

Although the extra -1 damage doesn't sound like much, it can make a world of difference when you are getting hit by 10-20 creatures every 2 seconds. In a prolonged fight (i.e. more than 60 seconds), you could be talking about another 100 damage that could've been prevented.

I'm a huge fan of the superior absorption, obviously...

I was a lucky one. Got a Sup Absorb drop in the SF area. I don't know if I would go that far to pay 100k. Maybe a deterent for all the runners. (which if it was/is the case I don't think it worked)

The price isn't set by the devs, it's set by the players, aka supply and demand. I was lucky to get mine for 60k a few months back. It's just spiked because people don't have anything better to buy with their money.

People have money. People buy. I think its simple enough.

PS~
You don't need one for PvE unless you solo or run.
Buying at the trader does not unlock runes for PvP.

Agreed ^

I notice a pretty good difference especially when running and farming. Those little numbers can add up quick.

I'm quite fortunate that I've actually had a Superior Absorption drop for me. I believe I got it during either Thunderhead or Iron Mines. The oddest thing though is I've never landed anything better than a Minor Vigor.. no majors.. no superiors... just a crapload of minors. A-net has a weird sense of humor.

I haven't even unlocked a major absorb yet... but if I ever find a Superior Absorbtion, I'll probably sell it instead of using it. I prefer looks over functionality, and that 90k or so could buy a lot of nice armor

Cant remember where I saw it, I though I remembered seeing it on this site. It could have been on another site though. I really wish ANET would make a decent page available with stats for that sort of thing.

considering sup runes come at a -75 health penatly I too believe absobrtion to be pointless, go with sup tactics and take "watch youself" instead
